NEW YORK (AP) — FBI agents quietly seized phones and an iPad from New York City Mayor Eric Adams early this week as part of an investigation into political fundraising during his 2021 campaign, his attorney disclosed Friday. The seizures happened as Adams was leaving a public event in Manhattan, according to a statement from the mayor’s attorney, Boyd Johnson.“On Monday night, the FBI approached the mayor after an event. The Mayor immediately complied with the FBI’s request and provided them with electronic devices,” Johnson said. “The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing and continues to cooperate with the investigation.”The seizure of the devices, first reported by The New York Times, came four days after federal agents searched the Brooklyn home of Adams’ top campaign fundraiser, Brianna Suggs. That search prompted the mayor to cancel a planned trip to meet with White House officials in Washington and instead return to New York.In a statement on Friday, Adams, a former pol...Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey, RB Keaton Mitchell questionable to play Sunday; Browns rule out 3 players

The Ravens play the Browns for the second time this season Sunday, this time at M&T Bank Stadium, and Cleveland again comes into the critical AFC North showdown banged up.Unlike the first meeting in Cleveland, the Browns (5-3) have starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. But they won’t have starting right tackle Dawand Jones (knee/shoulder) nor wide receivers Marquise Goodwin (concussion) and David Bell (knee), with all three ruled out on Friday’s injury report. With Jones out and fellow offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. being placed on injured reserve earlier this week, that means backup James Hudson III is set to start against a Ravens defense that leads the NFL in sacks. The Browns also listed starting cornerback Greg Newsome II (groin) and third-string running back Pierre Strong Jr. (hamstring) as questionable.Wide receiver Amari Cooper (ankle), tight end David Njoku (knee) and defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo (groin) all fully practiced Friday after being limited a day...Judge in Alaska upholds Biden administration’s approval of the Willow oil-drilling project

A federal judge on Thursday upheld the Biden administration’s approval of the massive Willow oil-drilling project on Alaska’s remote North Slope, a decision that environmental groups swiftly vowed to fight.U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Gleason rejected requests by a grassroots Iñupiat group and environmentalists to vacate the project approval, and she dismissed their claims against Willow, which is in the federally designated National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. The administration’s approval of Willow in March drew the ire of environmentalists who accused the president of backpedaling on his pledge to combat climate change. The company behind the project, ConocoPhillips Alaska, has the right to develop its leases in the reserve “subject to reasonable restrictions and mitigation measures imposed by the federal government,” Gleason wrote. She added that the alternatives analyzed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management as part of its review were consistent with the policy objective...Celtics’ Joe Mazzulla on NBA’s In-Season Tournament: ‘It’s one of 82’

No,” Porzingis said with a smirk. The Celtics began in-season tournament play Friday at TD Garden with their first game of group play against the Nets, and they’ll play three more games in their group over the next three weeks – at Toronto on Nov. 17, at Orlando on Nov. 24 and home against Chicago on Nov. 28. BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The Louisiana Legislature has until Jan. 15 to enact a new congressional map after a lower court last year ruled that the current political boundaries dilute the power of the state’s Black voters, a federal New Orleans appeals court said Friday. However, whether current Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards will call a special session to redraw the political boundaries and if Republican Gov.-elect Jeff Landry, who will be inaugurated Jan. 8, will have enough time to call a special redistricting session and meet the court’s deadline has yet to be determined. If the Legislature does not pass a new map by mid-January, then the lower district court should conduct a trial and “decide on a plan for the 2024 elections,” according to the order by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth District. The political tug-of-war and legal battle over Louisiana’s GOP-drawn congressional map has been going on for more than a year and a half — which has included Edwards vetoing the po...Latest news
