Something Coloradans were hearing frequently in reference to Nuggets' MVP Nikola Jokic and Nuggets' star Jamal Murray. Nikola Jokic back in Serbian hometown to watch family’s horses compete Jokic achieved 10 triple-doubles in the 2023 NBA Playoffs and was the first player in NBA history to record 30-plus points, 20-plus rebounds and 10-plus assists in a Finals game, NBA.com said.According to NBA.com, Jokic is now the seventh player to have two triple-doubles in the same Finals. The league said Magic Johnson and LeBron James each did it in three different Finals.

Runs were tough to come by for the Chicago White Sox in Game 1 of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays.So the team took a chance in the third inning of Game 2, as catcher Seby Zavala attempted to score from first on a double by Andrew Benintendi.Zavala was thrown out at the plate for the first out of the inning. The Sox rebounded for three in the inning, highlighted by Eloy Jiménez’s two-run homer. But they saw that lead slip away, falling 5-4 to the Blue Jays to complete a doubleheader sweep in front of 20,258 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI double in the seventh. The Sox were swept in the three-game series and are a season-high 15 games under .500 (37-52).“Keep playing hard,” manager Pedro Grifol said of his message to the team after the sweep. “The last 17 games we’ve lost (have been) within four runs or less. Just keep playing it. We’ve got a ton of games left. We’ve g...Donna Mills crafts a new villain in ‘V.C. Andrews Dawn’ on Lifetime

Donna Mills, a touchstone of glitzy, over-the-top ‘80s television like “Knot’s Landing,” is back in Lifetime’s latest female-centric Saturday night movie “V.C. Andrews Dawn.”V.C. Andrews is the pen name of the late Cleo Virginia Andrews, best known for steamy familial sagas like “Flowers in the Attic.” Andrews, who had often used a wheelchair and crutches, was 63 when she died in 1986 but her estate has continued to thrive.Ghost writer Andrew Neiderman has written all VC Andrews books since 1987-88.“Dawn” from 1990 is the first of a trilogy about the wealthy, socially prestigious and cutthroat Cutler family. It’s also the first series (which now number in the dozens) to be written by Neiderman, although “Dawn” was begun by Andrews.Teenaged Dawn (Brec Bassinger) is at the center of “Dawn.” She soon learns the Longchamps are not her real parents; she is a Cutler. At private school Dawn discovers her talent and dreams of a singing career.Mills, 82, stars as Lillian Cutler, a ruthle...Albert: Without action on TSA shortages, summer travel is a bust
Published Fri, 27 Dec 2024 06:51:25 GMT
In several key East Coast hubs, staffing is an issue. Due to Transportation Security Administration staffing shortages at key airports, travelers will face longer lines, which will cause missed flights and missed connections throughout the system and may contribute to a more nightmarish travel and vacation season.Earlier this year, the Federal Aviation Administration said East Coast airports will be the hardest hit, with delays to rise by 45% when compared with those last summer. Staffing shortages and rising consumer demand are driving the problem. Last summer, New York-area airports reported more than 40,000 flight delays, which amounted to the highest yearly percentage of delayed flights in seven years, Business Insider stated in a March article.More than 20% of flights are arriving late, on average, and currently, 1% to 2% of flights are being canceled. Passenger volumes at TSA security checkpoints are equal to or are exceeding pre-pandemic levels, but airports still don’t have ...Francisco Lindor tallies 5 hits, Mets’ stay hot in 5th straight victory with win over DBacks

PHOENIX — You could say the Mets charmed the Snakes this week in Phoenix, but the Arizona Diamondbacks probably found nothing charming about getting swept. The Mets hammered the Arizona Diamondbacks in the series finale en route to a 9-0 win over the NL West’s best team. Francisco Alvarez hit his third home run in as many games, Francisco Lindor had a five-hit game, Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI and Carlos Carrasco went eight shutout innings to help the Mets (41-46) win their fifth straight. It marked the second time this season the Mets have won five consecutive games but the first time since April. They remain undefeated in the month of July (5-0).Lindor became the second player in franchise history to hit two triples and a home run in the same game, with Joe Christopher doing August 18, 1964. He went 5-for-5 coming a double away from the cycle just two nights night after a bout with what the club thought was either food poisoning or a stomach b...Buildup, not much payoff from ‘The Lesson’

In Alice Troughton’s “The Lesson,” a strapping and handsome young man named Liam Sommers (Daryl McCormack, “Peaky Blinders”) – (even his name sounds young), an aspiring writer, moves in with the wealthy family of a famous, older and mercurial fellow writer named J.M. Sinclair (Richard E. Grant). Liam has been hired to tutor Sinclair’s son Bertie (a suitably spongy Stephen McMillan), in order to get him into Oxford to study English (and perhaps follow in his father’s literary footsteps?).Bertie has a clump of hair on his head that looks like it might talk to him in his sleep. Liam was hired by Sinclair’s beautiful, art dealer wife Helene (Julie Delpy), who has Liam sign multiple contracts, including a non-disclosure agreement. Liam carries a journal in which he has written the good part of a novel. Sinclair is finishing up his latest bestseller. Avid aquanaut Liam is forbidden to swim in the lake just outside the back door on the Sinclair manor house, wh...‘Lynch/Oz’ reveals influence of Dorothy’s journey on filmmaker

Directed by cinematic archaeologist Alexandre O. Philippe (“Hitchcock’s Shower Scene”), “Lynch/Oz” takes on the pervasive, profound and lasting influence the 1939 cinematic masterpiece “The Wizard of Oz” has had on the mind and work of the great David Lynch, (“Mulholland Dr.” “Twin Peaks,” etc.), architect of darkly menacing, surrealist, film worlds. “La vida es sueno (life is a dream),” the playwright Calderon de la Barca told us. In cinema, where we can be in a river one second, and in a desert the next second, the editing process gives all films the aspect of a dream. But for Lynch, the dream is not just in the cuts. It is in the storytelling, the characters and the heated celluloid (now digital) air they breathe. Broken into chapters and narrated by such people as noted film critic Amy Nicholson (“L.A. Weekly”), Rodney Ascher, director of the great “A Glitch in the Matrix” and fellow filmmakers Karyn Kusama (TV’s “Yellowjackets”), John Waters (“Hairspray,” “Cry-Baby”)...Latest news
