CHICAGO -- Free admission days at the Field Museum returns for Illinois residents.The museum announced in a release that every Wednesday in 2024 is free admission for state residents.Residents are required to show proof of residency to receive free general admission. Tickets are available on-site only and cannot be purchased in advanced. Free admission on certain days is back at the Shedd Aquarium for Illinois residents In addition to free days, the museums 'For All' program offers a $3-per-person admission to families (up to 6 people) every day who qualify for state food assistance. Visitors will only need to show a Link or WIC card upon arrival at the museum. JARRELL, Texas (KXAN) -- A multi-vehicle crash in Jarrell has blocked all northbound lanes of Interstate 35. TxDOT Austin posted a traffic alert on social media at 9:20 a.m. saying all lanes of northbound I-35 were closed near FM 487. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said the crash involved multiple vehicles, and emergency personnel are on the scene. No fatalities have been reported. WCSO said traffic in the area is being rerouted and warns drivers to find alternate routes if possible. This is a developing story. The United States Postal Service said Wednesday it will shut operations at its campus post office on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. USPS told KXAN its lease at the West Mall facility at 306 Inner Campus Dr was not renewed. According to its website, the Postal Service maintains more than 25,300 leased spaces in its facilities inventory nationwide.While USPS looks for "viable options for another location," it said postal customers can get full retail services at the Central Park Station at 3507 N. Lamar Blvd. from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. USPS also said P.O. Box customers can get a new P.O. BULVERDE, Texas (KXAN) -- An Amber Alert that was issued early Thursday morning was discontinued. The alert was issued overnight for a girl from Bulverde, Texas, but it was discontinued later Thursday morning after the girl was found. Bulverde is a city in Comal County located about 35 miles north of San Antonio. Police were searching for a 21-year-old male in connection to the abduction. The Dakota County Library system will no longer charge customers who return items past their due date.As of Jan. 2, there are no overdue fees on items for any age group and those who were previously blocked from checking out items can use the library once again, the county said in a news release.The county is currently home to nine libraries, said Scott Wente, Dakota County communications specialist, and will add a 10th next month with the opening of the new Kaposia Library in South St. Paul.In 2022, the county removed youth fines and as a result, “more items were checked out, more youth received library cards and items were returned at a similar rate,” according to the county.Items should still be returned to the library by their due date and most items overdue by 42 days or more will be considered lost and billed to the account. According to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the conditions included pouring rain, deep snow, slippery ice, and a soaking wet spruce tree cover. ST. LOUIS - Multiple people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a van transporting those with developmental disabilities.The good news is that all of the injuries were non-life-threatening. The crash happened at North Florissant and North Grand in the Fairgrounds neighborhood of north city.
